A New York resident, Dr. Elliott Bennett Guerrero currently serves as the professor and vice chairman in the Department of Anesthesiology at Stony Brook Medicine. Dr. Elliott Bennett Guerrero holds a doctor of medicine and has an interest in blood transfusion, on which he has published many research articles and studies.

Blood transfusions have evolved in the past few years and are now fairly safe. They can be used to treat a wide range of health problems. They are typically necessary when a patient experiences huge blood losses or after certain surgeries or injuries that result in blood loss. According to a study conducted by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, over five million Americans require at least one blood transfusion per year.

People that suffer from conditions such as cancer or anemia need blood transfusions regularly. The first thing a doctor does when a patient needs a blood transfusion is test and analyze their blood to see their blood type and what kind of blood they need. After the blood transfusion occurs, the doctor can provide treatment with medication if the patient develops an adverse reaction to the transfusion.
